Come listen to one of the most successful entrepreneurs from TKK!

Mårten Mickos was a CEO of MySQL AB, which made a major exit to Sun Microsystems on February 2008. He has also founded several start-ups, graduated from Helsinki University of Technology and is currently working at Benchmark Capital.

We had a chance to meet him during the Silicon Valley Talkoot trip. There we invited him to come speak for us on his next visit back to Finland. Luckily we didn’t have to wait long.

He’ll be talking about the leadership in start-up’s. The event is at the new Aalto Venture Park (Betonimiehenkuja 3, Espoo) on the 15th of December. Come be inspired.

The event will also be the launch of a photography exhibition called “Uuden Vaurauden Vaikuttajat”. The exhibition features portraits of successful Finnish entrepreneurs shot by photographer Peter Forsgård. The project to profile top Finnish entrepreneurs is still on-going and will eventually feature 40-50 portraits, complimented by a wiki that will document the impact these trailblazers have had.

KY:n uuden Arkadiakatu 28 kiinteistön avajaisia on tarkoitus juhlia kesäkuussa HSE:n (rakennuksen vuokralaisen) kesäjuhlien yhteydessä. Yleensä kesäjuhlat ovat ainoastaan henkilökunnan juttu, mutta tällä kertaa myös opiskelijat ovat tervetulleita.

Mukana akateemisen yrittäjyyden ympärillä pyörivässä keskustelussa nähdään mm. rahoituksen professorimme Vesa Puttonen, Taneli Tilkka (Suomen Internet-palveluiden toimialan tunnetuimpia nimiä ja sarjayrittäjiä) sekä Eqvitec Partnes Oy:n toimitusjohtaja, HSE:n alumni Kimmo Jyllilä.

AES is having a visit to Hoitonetti

Hoitonetti is the first communal healthcare website in Finland. The site is combining the tremendous potential of online social networks to professional health care information. The site was launched in October 2008 and by now it has over 20 000 weekly visitors. By the same token, Hoitonetti has also aroused a lot of interest in the Finnish media. For example, Helsingin Sanomat, Suomen kuvalehti Kauppalehti and Radio Nova have introduced the concept to the general public.

Hoitonetti-team can be described as young but also experienced and most of all enthusiastic pioneers of social networking services. For example ii2 (social network community for younger people) and Petsie (social network for pet owners) have been developed by the same team. Developing these services have kept the team very busy and studies at HSE are currently on HOLD. Our target is to make Hoitonetti rapidly growing and international web service.

As you might know, talkoot is the Finnish word for a group of people gathering to work together, for instance, to build or repair something. AES is gathering students, entrepreneurs, investors and other experts together to work on Aalto startups. This is the start of a series of events to catalyze Aalto startups that was started by the pitching evening on the 31.3.

We have 5 startups coming to Design Factory on the 25-26.4. We’ll be working together on the most important issues facing these startups, in design, coding, business or anything! We’ll have experts regarding financing, law, strategy and entrepreneurship giving information and catalyzing the work being done over the weekend.

Our goal is to help the best Aalto Startups that participated in our pitching event, allow students to learn, match the startups with new team-members and allow the creation of new ideas with like-minded people. The startups will post some tasks they have which the students will be invited to resolve. For some, there will be prizes, for others, maybe opportunities to continue working for the startups. We’re also sure that everyone will have the opportunity to meet interesting people and create new ideas altogether!
